As its name clearly indicates, Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool can find faulty configurations that can make the popular suite crash or work incorrectly. As to the design of its interface, it is good that the utility has several tabs, which, together with various wizards, positively contribute to its ease of use. For example, if you want to check how Microsoft Word is doing, you just need to click on the scan tab and pick Word from the list of programs.
The tool is specifically designed to diagnose problems by examining event log entries, installed updates, add-ons and registry settings. After the initial scan, you can access a detailed report, which shows information about critical issues as well as other important details about the selected program, the user and the machine in a tree structure. Fortunately, there is a log containing every scan. So, you can go back and consult previous scans to solve any problem regarding Office programs. Moreover, the results can also be saved to files or directly sent to a printer.
On the one hand, I am glad there was nothing wrong with my Office installation. On the other, I regret I could not test the program’s ability to correct issues. However, I can tell you that when a given problem is encountered, the tool is supposed to provide you with information that helps you resolve it manually or even lets you download a Microsoft Fixit to do it automatically.
In general, Microsoft Office Configuration Analyzer Tool has the main advantage of not being a third-party product. Besides, it can give a lot of crucial information about your Microsoft Office settings and repair misconfiguration issues. The program is free to use and checks for updates automatically. Luckily, besides the installable version, there are portable and command-line versions of this product. I just wonder why the program is not distributed along with the Microsoft Office installer.
